Pilar Nicolás Jiménez

Dr. Pilar Nicolás Jiménez has a PhD in Law. She is the coordinator of the Chair in Law and the Human Genome Net (University of the Basque Country) and PI of the Research Group in the University of the Basque Country (Basque Government): Social and Legal Sciences applied to the New Technosciences. She teaches Criminal Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of the Basque Country and Biolaw in postgraduate degrees in several Spanish universities, and is a member of the Research Ethics Committee of the Carlos III Health Institute (Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation), the Directive Board of ANCEI (National Association of Research Ethics Committees in Spain), the Ethics and Scientific Integrity Committee of the IMPaCT Program in Spain (Ministry of Science and Innovation) and of the control body of the Code of Conduct for personal data processing in clinical trials, of Farmaindustria (Spain).

She is the coordinator of the ELSI node in Spain of the BBMRI-ERIC. She participates in national and European research projects (Horizon 2020) related to the ethical and legal implications of biomedicine in general and genetics in particular, and has collaborated in the drafting of Spanish legislation related to biomedical research.
