On December 2nd over 30 EOSC4Cancer stakeholder forum members and partners gathered in-person and online for the Roadmap Consultation Workshop, which was a success!
The day was packed with fruitful presentations and discussion groups on the Cancer Data Space Roadmap, and how we should progress towards. First on the agenda was an introduction by Salvador Capella-Gutierrez, Project Coordinator and member of Barcelona Supercomputing Center, and Carola Schulz of empirica. Two presentations on Policy Updates, particularly European Cancer policies and Data Space, were held by Angelo Solimini and Irini Kessissoglou of the European Commission. The day ensued with several talks on stakeholder perspective towards cancer data. Oriana Sousa of EU-CAYAS-NET and Tamara Milagre of the EVITA platform covered patient involvement and centering, while Cristóbal Bernardo-Castiñeira spoke on industry innovation and cancer data. Continuing on the heels of these conversations, a series of talks on cancer data and synergy projects was held.
Marco Morelli of IRCCS (GDI), Peter Gordebeke of EIBIR (EUCAIM), David Marshall of Instruct-ERIC(CanServ), Carina Dantas of SHINE2Europe (RadioVal, Liveration, ECHOS), and Chloé Mayeur of Sciensano (CanHeal) covered an array of aspects regarding cancer data and synergy projects, from the ethics of data and AI use to platform updates and data management.
The second part of the workshop started with a roadmap overview by Daniel Barrowdale of ELIXIR, which set the scene for the following Breakout Sessions. Three Breakout Sessions were held to discuss key Roadmap aspects: Session 1 was moderated by Daniel Barrowdale and treated the topic of Missing Aspects; Session 2 was moderated by Sarah Morgan of EATRIS and handled Technical Infrastructures and Implementation; Session 3 was moderated by Joana Kokalari and Josephine Mosset of Cancer Patients Europe, on Stakeholder Engagement. The outcomes of these discussions and all the sessions of the day were unpacked in a final discussion and feedback session. This workshop proved fruitful on all fronts, consolidating the current progress of the Roadmap and setting new goals for the work ahead.
The draft roadmap is now available on our Zenodo community. Stakeholders can submit their feedback to us by sending an email at .
