Another successful EOSC Symposium wrapped up on October 23rd! Over 1300 participants from various EOSC Association projects, interested stakeholders, and 60 nations all over the world joined the sessions online and in-person, contributing to an eventful symposium.
The symposium was inaugurated by the German Minister for Education and Research Bettina Stark-Watzinger, European Commissioner Iliana Ivanova, Deputy DG for DG-RTD Signe Ratso, and former Italian prime minister Enrico Letta. They all lauded EOSC’s efforts towards advancing cancer research and care, positioning EOSC as a cornerstone in the European Research Area.
During the three days of the symposium, a myriad of sessions were held, targeting topics from FAIRness and various data issues, to the EOSC federation and project impacts. Several EOSC4Cancer consortium members were present in the symposium and followed the sessions.
Our project co-coordinator, Dr. Salvador Capella-Gutierrez of the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, was a panellist in the European Health Data Space (EHDS) discussion session. This meeting explored the current roadmap towards establishing the EHDS, the EOSC family projects involved in this endeavour, and necessary action needed to identify any gaps and potential synergies. As part of these discussions, the goals of EOSC4Cancer were also explained.
